Communications

Our department responds to nearly 8,000 calls for service annually. All communication services including 9-1-1 access and countywide dispatch are handled by the Volusia Sheriff's Office Communications Center.

911:  CALL if you can – TEXT if you can’t.

Text to 911 is the ability to send a text message (SMS) from your messaging-enabled mobile phone to your local 911 service. Texting during an emergency could be helpful if you are deaf, hearing impaired, have a speech disability, or if a voice call to 911 might otherwise be dangerous or impossible.

Additional information on the VSO Communications Center and information on Text to 911 can be found here.

Transport

The DeLand Fire Department provides pre-hospital emergency medical services. Transportation of patients is provided solely by Volusia County Emergency Medical Services (VCEMS, formerly EVAC) in the DeLand area. Additional information about VCEMS can be found here
